Quality management has, in many contexts, devolved into a "bureaucracy of appearances." This article uses philosophical hermeneutics to dissect the ISO 9001:2015 standard, arguing that complacency is not only an administrative error but also an interpretive failure. Through the analysis of 20 authors and their connection to normative clauses, it demonstrates how conforming to subtle certification-related thinking leads to systemic detriment within the organization.
