Abstract

Suicidal ideation constitutes an important mental health problem among university students and is related to different manifestations of academic stress. The objective was to determine the relationship between stressful factors, emotional responses and suicidal ideation among university students in Lima. The approach was quantitative, basic, with a non-experimental, transversal and correlational design. The sample was attended by 267 university students. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between stressful factors and suicidal ideation (r = .432; p < .001), as well as between emotional responses and suicidal ideation (r = .439; p < .001). It is concluded that both dimensions of academic stress are significantly related to suicidal ideation in university students.
