Influence of the subject ‘digital resources’ on the digital competence of future teachers: an analysis of covariance (ANCOVA)

Introduction: Given the gap between the recreational and educational use of ICT, this study assessed the impact of the ‘Digital Resources’ module on the development of Digital Teaching Competence (DTC) among trainee teachers. Method: Using a quantitative approach, explanatory level and a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test design, 223 students at a Peruvian public university (111 in the experimental group, 112 in the control group) were assessed using the Digital Competence Questionnaire for Future Teachers. Results: Following the intervention, the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) revealed a significant effect of the course ($F = 50.97$, $p < .001$, $R^2 = 0.316$). Discussion and Conclusions: The findings confirm improvements in content creation, content reuse and digital collaboration, in line with previous literature. It is concluded that formal instruction in the third year is decisive for the development of these competencies, surpassing informal learning.
