Abstract

This article analyzes the problem of the low level of family participation in school activities within the Unidad Educativa Manuel Minuche Torres, located in Pasaje, El Oro Province, Ecuador. The research aims to identify the factors that limit parental involvement in their children’s educational processes and its impact on academic and socioemotional development. A mixed-method approach was used, applying a descriptive design supported by surveys and interviews with parents and teachers. The results show that lack of time due to work commitments, limited educational background of parents, and deficiencies in school–family communication are the main obstacles. The study concludes by proposing strategies to strengthen the family–school bond through participatory workshops, continuous communication channels, and guidance programs that promote active parental engagement. These findings highlight the importance of shared educational responsibility in improving learning quality and fostering students’ integral development.
