Code of ethics and good editorial practices

This Code of Ethics is the property of the journal Multidisciplinar Epistemología de las Ciencias and is based on the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Its purpose is to ensure integrity, transparency, and accountability in all scientific publishing processes.

1. Editorial Commitment

The editorial team ensures the academic quality of the content, impartiality in the evaluation, and confidentiality throughout the editorial process. Publication decisions are based on scientific relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution to knowledge.

2. Duties of Authors

Authors must submit original and unpublished works. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to other journals is prohibited. Authors are required to properly cite all sources used, acknowledge external contributions, and declare any potential conflicts of interest. Authorship should reflect the actual contribution of each participant in the conception, development, and writing of the article.

3. Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers must conduct an objective, confidential, and well-founded evaluation. Their work contributes to maintaining the scientific quality of the journal. Reviewers are expected to alert the editor to possible cases of plagiarism, duplication, or conflicts of interest that may compromise the impartiality of the process.

4. Originality and Plagiarism Prevention

All manuscripts are checked with similarity detection tools prior to evaluation. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or data manipulation are considered serious ethical breaches and may lead to rejection or retraction of the article.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any relationship or circumstance that may influence the interpretation of results or editorial decisions.

6. Retractions and Corrections

In the event of significant errors, inappropriate practices, or ethical violations, the journal will follow the procedures established by COPE for the publication of retractions, corrections, or clarifications.

7. Transparency and Responsibility

The journal promotes transparency in research data, open access to information, and ethical commitment to the scientific community. This code reaffirms the editorial responsibility and the journal’s commitment to good publishing practices.

8. Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence

All articles published in the journal include a statement on the use of Artificial Intelligence, in accordance with the guidelines of the Heredia Declaration (2024). This requirement ensures transparency in the use of digital tools and promotes ethical responsibility in scientific research.
