Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe the psychological assessment, clinical formulation, cognitive-behavioral intervention, and therapeutic evolution of a patient with obsessive-compulsive disorder treated with exposure and response prevention. A descriptive clinical case study was conducted with a mixed-methods approach and a pretest-posttest design in a 39-year-old participant. Data was collected through clinical interviews, observation, and psychometric instruments, followed by 16 individual intervention sessions. The main findings show a favorable clinical evolution: the BDI-II score decreased from 31 to 15 points, while an attenuation of obsessive-compulsive manifestations, a reduction in ritualized behaviors, and improved anxiety management were observed. It is concluded that the intervention contributed to the strengthening of cognitive and behavioral resources, although residual manifestations persisted. The single-case nature of the study, the absence of a comparison group, and the lack of follow-up limit the generalizability and causal attribution of the results.
