Abstract

The study was conducted in the Ribera del Jaya Ecological Park Protected Landscape, declared in August 2011 through Decree 351-11 and incorporated into the National System of Protected Areas as a National Recreation Area. Its purpose was to characterize the park’s flora and fauna, given the need for updated information to serve as a baseline for conservation, sustainable management, and environmental decision-making. The flora was recorded through descriptive walks along the park’s trails, identifying plant species and their scientific names. For amphibians and reptiles, active searches were carried out on substrates, trunks, and branches, supported by taxonomic guides. The avifauna was documented through free-search methods, using a field notebook, digital camera, binoculars, and mobile applications. The results made it possible to identify flora and fauna species, as well as to assess their biogeographic status and threat category.
