Human security and social development: an integral approach to strengthening peace and community resilience

Abstract

This research analyzes human security as a central axis of contemporary social development, through an ethical, educational, and resilience-based perspective. Using a documentary and comparative analysis of thirty academic sources and twelve international reports (UN, ECLAC, UNDP, UNESCO, WHO, and World Bank), the study identifies the main conceptual and practical dimensions shaping human security in global and Latin American contexts. The results show that transformative education, institutional ethics, and community resilience are interdependent pillars that strengthen social justice, cohesion, and sustainability. Moreover, the findings demonstrate that sustainable human development can only be achieved through ethical, participatory governance committed to human rights. The study concludes that human security is not imposed by power structures but collectively built through education, solidarity, and shared responsibility. This approach provides an interpretive framework applicable to the design of public policies, educational programs, and sustainable development strategies focused on the integral well-being of individuals.
