Abstract

Obstetric hemorrhage remains one of the leading causes of maternal mortality worldwide, despite advances in preventive and therapeutic strategies. Advanced surgical techniques (TEQUIAV), such as compression sutures, intrauterine tamponade, arterial ligation, and uterine embolization, represent effective options for preserving the uterus and controlling bleeding when medical treatment fails. This systematic review aimed to analyze recent evidence on the role of nursing staff in implementing and supporting TEQUIAV for the prevention and control of obstetric hemorrhage. A comprehensive search of international databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, LILACS, and SciELO) was conducted between 2019 and 2025, selecting 20 articles with medium and high methodological quality according to the 2020 PRISMA guidelines. The results showed that nursing plays a decisive role in preoperative preparation, surgical instrumentation, intraoperative hemodynamic monitoring, and postoperative follow-up. Furthermore, ongoing training, clinical simulation, and the formal inclusion of nursing staff in institutional protocols were identified as improving maternal safety and outcomes. In conclusion, strengthening nursing technical competencies and leadership is essential to optimize the effectiveness of TEQUIAV and reduce morbidity associated with obstetric hemorrhage.
