Revisión bibliográfica: diabetes tipo II y dietas bajas en carbohidratos

La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) es una enfermedad metabólica crónica caracterizada por hiperglucemia, originada por resistencia a la insulina y disfunción de las células beta pancreáticas. En los últimos años, las dietas bajas en carbohidratos (DBC) han ganado popularidad como estrategia para mejorar el control glucémico y metabólico en la DM2. Esta revisión analiza estudios recientes (2020-2025) que evalúan su eficacia y seguridad. Los hallazgos muestran mejoras significativas en el control glucémico, reducción de peso y optimización del perfil lipídico. No obstante, factores como la adherencia al régimen y la calidad de las grasas consumidas requieren atención para prevenir efectos adversos y mantener beneficios a largo plazo. En conclusión, las DBC representan una alternativa viable dentro del tratamiento integral de la DM2, siempre aplicadas con supervisión profesional, ajustando según las necesidades del paciente para garantizar resultados sostenibles y seguros.
